Family Support
Hello, my name is Emma James and I am the Family Support Co-ordinator for James Rennie School and Sixth Form.
My role in school is to provide support, guidance, and clear information to all families within our school community. I’m here to help everyone feel confident and connected as we work together to support our young people.
Whether you have questions about your child’s learning, behaviour, or wellbeing, I’m here to listen and offer practical support. I can also assist parents and carers with challenges that may be affecting family life — including matters related to health, housing, finances, or any other concerns that may arise.
All conversations are treated with respect, understanding, and confidentiality. Please note that if there are any concerns about a child’s safety or welfare, these must be managed in accordance with the school’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy, so we can ensure every young person is safe and supported.
Above all, I’m here as a friendly and approachable point of contact. I may not always have the answer, but I’m committed to working with you to find the right guidance, resources, and support to help your family thrive.

28th November 2025 | Paint with Victoria Wellbeing Day
On Friday 28th November 2025, we hosted our very first Family Support Wellbeing Day – and what a wonderful day it was!
We recognise how important it is to support the wellbeing of our parents, so we created a day dedicated entirely to giving them time and space to focus on themselves. Our first session centred around creativity, which featured a calm guided painting workshop with Paint with Victoria. Victoria gently led everyone through the process, encouraging even those who had never picked up a paintbrush before. Her reassurance that “there is always a place to start” helped parents relax, explore and discover their creative side.
The feedback from the parents that attended has been incredibly positive for our first session – you can read some of their reflections below.
A heartfelt thank you to our supporters:
Skitby House, H&H, The Cumberland, RH Irving, Bespoke Financial Wellbeing, Garry Phillips Agricultural Engineer and Marc O’Dell Taxi Service.
Your generous donations made this event possible!
